Svexa supporting Jenny Simpson as she prepares for her marathon debut

Jenny Simpson, 1500m World Champion, Olympic medalist and “The Greatest American 1500-meter runner ever“, will make her marathon debut at the USA Olympic trials coming up on February 3rd. Jenny has worked with Dustin Nabhan for many years, and now svexa is helping her with guidance around preparation and nutrition, including modelling her energy intake and predicting her race time. Svexa’s algorithms are an important piece in her hyper-personalized training.

As Jenny says – “I’m new to all this. It’s still running, but a marathon is a different beast than a mile on the track. I have a great team around me, and with the svexa addition, I feel like I have gained a PhD in ‘Jenny-specific Marathon Running’!”

The US Olympic trial is a cut-throat competition, with over 150 women competing but only the top 3 guaranteed a spot in Paris this summer. In any normal situation, it’s crazy to believe that you can qualify for the Olympics on your debut, but our analysis and Jenny’s unique mind and performance suggest that a top-10 placing is within her reach. Then it comes down to who has the best day to grab the podium!

Preparations have gone according to plan so far, including a half-marathon in Texas in early December, which she finished in 1:10:56 at steady pace following svexa’s nutrition advice. She said afterwards “I felt strong at that pace and like I could keep going for a lot longer.

Svexa will also be helping Jenny adjust to the heat and humidity in Orlando, even though Jenny has an ace up her sleeve because this is the city where she grew up and started running in middle and high school. It is a beautiful full circle moment with a lot of family, friends and people from her past cheering along the course, so Jenny should have great motivation.

Best of luck Jenny!
