svexa 2024

Celebrating a fantastic 2024!

It’s the end of another great year of growth for svexa. We’ve come far and learned a lot in 2024, and deeply value the support of all our partners and clients. Here are some highlights…

Over 2024 we’ve greatly extended the range and capability of our svexa products. We added Thrud, our strength training recommendation algorithm. Our Ellida endurance training algo now extends to cycling, with a suite of deep insights into your training load and performance.  We’ve further refined svexa’s deep personalization with additions like extended zones for speed or power, and increased ease of use with features like plan upload to Garmin devices.

During 2024 we were happy to welcome two new teams to the svexa fold. Zone7, a leading provider of tools enabling athlete durability, health, and sustained performance, now forms the backbone of svexa’s team sports offering. Kollektiv‘s platform enables coaches to build communities using AI-driven triathlon and other multi-sport training plans. Each allows svexa to expand our solutions in new arenas.

Svexa Science

We have developed and validated an algorithm that can accurately determine your muscle fiber type using only the historic training data from your running watch or bike computer combined with blood lactate measurements  – no need for muscle biopsies, or even a physical lab test. The calculation is very accurate, R2= 0.85, p<0.0001. This science study, by svexa CSO Filip Larsen and colleagues, has also demonstrated that mitochondria of human fast-twitch muscle fibers compensate for their lack of volume by substantially elevating intrinsic respiratory rate. This work underpins svexa’s development of training ‘according to your muscle type’.

In recent interviews like this one with Reuters, Filip and our Head of Analytics Emil Blomberg discuss one of the latest training developments – the use of Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) to track and optimize athlete ‘fuelling.’

In October, Filip and colleague Elin Ekblom-Bak at the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences (GIH) have been awarded a substantial study grant from FORTE, the Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare. The study will use svexa’s Ellida and Thrud in a corporate health setting, attempting to unravel the “physical activity paradox”

Our Ellida training planning algorithm is powering a variety of different client applications in endurance sport race organization, community, coaching and technology including RaceID, Lidingöloppet,  Löpning, SeMee Running and MATS.

In 2024 we launched our first two client apps in the field of skill acquisition. These will help athletes train muscles and movements for specific sporting activities, including Practice Coach for golf and Ballers App for soccer. Each is available for iPhone and Android.

We continue to support elite athletes and teams in a variety of sports, and in 2024 were excited to extend this to the world of cross-country skiing. With our help, Polish Ski Association and Sollefteå Ski Gymnasium are already seeing fantastic results.

In addition to our training, performance and recovery algorithms for athletes, in 2024 svexa has been expanding our reach into new fields of human performance. We started working with DaVinci Wearables and Hormona, providing advice tailored specifically for women. We also have several new partnerships that we’ll be announcing shortly, so stay tuned!
